In Zakarpattia, law enforcement officers have uncovered and dismantled yet another network involved in the illegal smuggling of men of conscription age across Ukraine’s state border.

Operatives from the Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment, together with officers from the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and the National Police, detained a resident of Zakarpattia directly in the regional centre – the city of Uzhhorod.
The investigation established that, in exchange for 15,000 US dollars, the suspect had promised to arrange for his client to cross the state border unhindered. The crossing was planned to take place within the area of responsibility of the ‘Luzhanka’ border guard unit.
The suspect personally briefed the conscript, provided instructions on a safe route, and guaranteed successful passage across the border.
The detainee has now been informed of the charges against him. The court has ordered that the suspect be remanded in custody, subject to bail. The investigation is ongoing.
