12 dead and over 40 injured; search underway for missing persons in Pryluky: Ministry of Internal Affairs on consequences of Russian Federation’s massive strike on Ukraine. VIDEO+PHOTOS

Emergency and rescue operations are currently underway at eight locations – in Kyiv and the surrounding region, as well as in the Kirovohrad, Chernihiv and Poltava regions – following a massive Russian attack.

This was reported on a Telegram channel by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivan Vyhivskyi, according to Censor.NET.

Victims of the Russian attack

According to him, this combined terrorist strike on Ukrainian cities has killed 12 people. A further 40-plus civilians have been injured. In Pryluky, rescue workers and police are searching for people missing in action who may be trapped under the rubble of a standard five-storey block of flats. Six people have already died as a result of the enemy attack on the city , including an 8-year-old boy. A further 34 people, including five children, have been injured. The youngest girl is just three years old.

"Residential buildings, a plumbing supplies warehouse, a garage co-operative, shops – this strike once again targeted civilians, families who were asleep in their homes. There was no military justification whatsoever for the shelling of one of the capital’s cemeteries either.

Unfortunately, today is also a difficult day for the staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. A policewoman was wounded in a strike in Pryluky. Her husband, who until recently had been serving on the front line as part of the police force, and her mother were killed. May all those who have died rest in peace, and our condolences go out to their families," said Vyhivskyi.

It is also noted that rescue workers and essential services continue to operate at the sites of the attacks.

"In Kremenchuk and Pryluky, we are setting up mobile service centres run by the Ministry of Internal Affairs – citizens can replace lost documents or deregister vehicles free of charge. We are also bringing in units from neighbouring regions to deal with the aftermath of the attack as quickly as possible," the minister concluded.
