Russians have unveiled ’Shturm’ unmanned tank, based on T-90, which, for some reason, is operated by three people wearing helmets. VIDEO
Russian propaganda has reportedly unveiled a working prototype of the ‘Shturm’ unmanned tank, based on the T-90.
According to Censor.NET, footage of the vehicle’s tests was shown on Russian television, after which it began to be shared by Russian Z-bloggers.
"The tank’s operation is fully automated, and the three-man crew controls the vehicle remotely," wrote Russian Z-blogger Alexey Zhivov.
The footage released shows the vehicle moving and firing, as well as three soldiers who are presented as the system’s operators.
At the same time, Russian propaganda refers to the ‘Shurm’ as an unmanned vehicle and claims that the crew operates it remotely. The authors of the report do not explain why, if it is being operated remotely, all three operators are wearing tank helmets.
The "Shturm" is presented by the Russians as a robotic assault system mounted on a tank chassis. It is impossible to determine from the video that has been released to what extent the vehicle demonstrated is actually capable of carrying out combat missions autonomously or remotely.
