Russia kills three generations of a family in one strike on Pryluky: grandmother, her daughter and one-year-old grandson killed

Three members of a family were killed in a Russian missile strike on an apartment building in Pryluky, Chernihiv region, on 7 October: 58-year-old Viktoriia Bondarenko, her 37-year-old daughter Kateryna Antypenko and her one-year-old grandson Sashko. Another granddaughter, Olha, survived.

What is known?
The family lived on the fifth floor of the building hit by the Russian missile. A woman related to the deceased Viktoriia Bondarenko through godparenthood told Suspilne about the deaths.
According to her, 58-year-old Viktoriia stayed at home to care for her youngest grandson, Oleksandr, who was one year and nine months old. Viktoriia’s daughter, 37-year-old Kateryna, worked at a tobacco factory to support the family.
"Kateryna’s husband has been working abroad for a long time. He is already on his way home," the woman said.
According to Larysa Halych, she was informed at around 12:00 p.m. that rescuers had recovered the bodies of Kateryna and her son Oleksandr from the rubble. The older daughter, Olha, survived.
"She was in the room facing the courtyard. Relatives took her in," she said.
Russian strike on Pryluky on 7 October
- As a reminder, on 7 October, Russia carried out a missile strike on Pryluky, Chernihiv region. Eighteen people are known to have been killed and 55 injured. Children are among the dead.
- Other residential buildings, a children’s and youth creativity centre, a business and vehicles were also damaged in the city.
- According to Chernihiv Regional Military Administration head Viacheslav Chaus, the Russians struck Pryluky with six cruise missiles, provisionally identified as Kh-101s.
- Days of mourning for those killed were declared in Pryluky on 7, 8 and 9 October.
