According to preliminary reports, on the night of 8 October, the Ukrainian Defence Forces attacked the ‘Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat’ oil refinery.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

"Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat" is one of Russia’s largest petrochemical complexes and is part of the Gazprom Group. The plant has been in operation since 1948. It comprises an oil refinery and a gas chemical plant, as well as the "Monomer" plant.

The refinery’s capacity is up to 10 million tonnes of feedstock per year

According to the company’s own figures, its oil refinery is capable of processing up to 10 million tonnes of hydrocarbon feedstock annually. The main technological processes include the primary refining of crude oil and stable gas condensate, catalytic cracking, reforming and the hydrotreating of diesel fuel.

The company produces motor petrol, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, sulphur, as well as a wide range of petrochemical and gas chemical products. In total, the company states that it produces over 150 types of products.

In 2022, the actual volume of hydrocarbon feedstock processed at the "Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat" site amounted to 6.774 million tonnes.
