Britain to allocate £54 million to Ukraine for winter support

UK aid to Ukraine

UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband announced £54 million in support for Ukraine ahead of winter during his first visit to the country.

This is stated in a report by European Pravda, citing the British government, Censor.NET reports.

Britain to strengthen Ukraine's energy resilience

Of the total £54 million, £20 million will be allocated to supporting Ukraine's energy security.

The funds will be used, among other things, to finance crews carrying out emergency repairs to the power grid after Russian strikes. Investments in backup generators and solar power plants are also planned to address power outages.

Funding will also be allocated to new technologies intended to help Ukraine diversify its energy supply sources.

This support is expected to help ensure Ukraine's resilience during winter.

Another £34 million to support families

Another £34 million has been earmarked to protect Ukrainian families and provide them with heating and water supplies ahead of winter.

The package also includes direct cash assistance. It will be provided in cooperation with the Ukrainian government and local partners, including UNICEF, UNHCR and the Ukrainian Red Cross.

"The total £54 million in funding for energy and humanitarian needs will help support ordinary Ukrainians during the winter months," the statement reads.
