Sybiha called NATO Military Committee’s visit to Kyiv symbol of solidarity

Sybiha on the NATO Military Committee’s first visit to Kyiv

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced the first-ever visit by the NATO Military Committee to Kyiv in the history of independent Ukraine. He called it an important symbol of the allies’ support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

According to Censor.NET, this is mentioned in a post by Andrii Sybiha on the social media platform X.

NATO military leaders have arrived in Kyiv

According to the foreign minister, representatives of NATO's military leadership and all 32 Alliance countries arrived in the Ukrainian capital. The visit took place despite Russian attacks and threats.

Kyiv also hosted the first-ever meeting of the Ukraine–NATO Council at the Military Committee level. It was co-chaired by Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatiy.

Sybiga noted that the allies' visit was a response to Russia's attempts to intimidate foreign diplomats and force them to leave Kyiv.

"Just as in May, Putin's blackmail has backfired: partners aren't leaving—they're arriving. Despite Russian threats, attacks, and acts of sabotage on the territory of our allies, Ukraine-NATO relations are only growing stronger," the minister emphasized.

Ukraine and NATO Discussed Strengthening Air Defense

During the meetings, Ukrainian military leaders briefed the Alliance delegation on the situation at the front, Ukraine’s strategy, and the military’s key needs.

Special attention was given to strengthening air defense and conducting long-range strikes. NATO representatives also reported progress in the delivery of air defense packages, including 20-mm ammunition for F-16 fighter jets.

According to Sibiga, NATO member countries are showing considerable interest in Ukraine’s combat experience. They plan to draw on this experience when developing NATO’s military doctrines, standards, and defense plans.

"Ukraine's experience makes the entire Alliance stronger, and our future lies with NATO," the foreign minister said.

As a reminder, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated recently that Ukraine's NATO membership is not currently on the agenda.
