Defense forces destroyed over 4,700 Russian aerial targets in September 2026 – Air Force

In September 2026, Ukrainian defenders destroyed more than 4,700 aerial targets, including Kh-101, "Kalibr," "Iskander," and "Zircon" missiles, as well as thousands of attack and reconnaissance drones.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.
The following were destroyed in September:
- 24 Kh-101 cruise missiles;
- 8 "Iskander-M/KN-23" ballistic missiles;
- 12 "Kalibr" cruise missiles;
- 6 Kh-59/69 guided air-to-ground missiles;
- 6 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
- 8 "Zircon" anti-ship missiles;
- 86 S8000 "Banderole";
- 2,722 Shahed-131/136-type attack UAVs;
- 1935 Shahed-238-type attack UAVs;
- 1,009 reconnaissance UAVs;
- 719 БпЛА "Lancet".
Throughout August, the Air Force conducted more than 1,600 flight sorties, including:
- around 1,300 – for fighter air cover;
- more than 250—for fire support and air support for ground troops.
What led up to this?
Ukrainian Air Force Spokesperson Yuriy Ignat reported that Russia is increasing the number of "Shahed" drones and expanding the geographic scope of their use, placing an additional burden on Ukraine's air defense and air force.
