Allies failed to warn Ukraine about ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, - Zelenskyy

Allies failed to warn of the ballistic missile launch targeting Kyiv

President Zelenskyy stated that Russia had attacked Ukraine’s energy and critical infrastructure over the past two days, despite the energy ceasefire announced by Donald Trump.

The head of state announced this on Telegram, according to Censor.NET.

Since yesterday evening, the Russians have launched over 100 different types of munitions at Ukraine: jet-powered drones, loitering munitions and ballistic missiles.

"We managed to shoot down a significant proportion of these weapons. But, unfortunately, not all of them," the president emphasised.

In Kharkiv, Russian forces attacked a residential building, killing four people.

Zelenskyy also noted that Russia had fired five ballistic missiles at Kyiv, which struck civilian infrastructure.

"Unfortunately, there was no warning from our partners regarding this strike. Intelligence data on the launch of Russian ballistic missiles helps to save people’s lives, and this is one of the most critical issues. It is precisely this that helps to prevent deaths when there is a warning about ballistic missiles," he emphasised.

The president also noted that Ukraine had not carried out any strikes on Russian oil refineries or the energy sector in general during the two days since Trump announced a ceasefire in the energy sector.

"But Russia has not heeded the US President. During this time, the Russians have attacked both our energy facilities and our critical infrastructure, and have sent absolutely clear signals that they have no intention of refraining from strikes against Ukraine. Nineteen regions of our country have come under attack in these very two days.

Our position remains unchanged: Ukraine is ready to take reciprocal de-escalation measures, and effective pressure must be brought to bear on Russia for de-escalation to occur. Wars end when the aggressor realises that it has no way of dragging the war out," he explained.

Zelenskyy stated that it is precisely pressure on Russia that is helping to bring peace closer.

"But direct or indirect support for Russia, holding back aid to Ukraine and making it harder to protect lives from ballistic threats – these are things that will certainly not work towards peace. Everyone needs peace. We need a strong America, a strong Europe and strong partners. Thank you to everyone who is genuinely helping!" the president concluded.
