Russian forces fired on civilians whom they themselves had led to gas pipeline in Kupiansk, – ’Khartiia’ Corps. VIDEO
Russian occupiers were moving civilians from Kupiansk towards the ‘Shebelynka–Ostrohozk’ gas pipeline, after which they themselves fired on the group with mortars and artillery. There have been casualties amongst the civilians.
This was reported by the ‘Kharter’ unit, according to Censor.NET.
Details
On the morning of 13 October, Russian occupiers once again evacuated civilians from Kupiansk to the ‘Shebelynka–Ostrohozk’ gas pipeline. The group included two women, a child and several men.
They came under mortar and artillery fire along the way. Reconnaissance drones operated by units within the area of responsibility of the 2nd Corps of the Ukrainian National Guard, ‘Khartiia’, have confirmed that there are casualties among the civilians.
Defence Forces personnel did not open fire. However, based on the nature of the explosions, the corps determined that the fire came from the eastern bank of the Oskil River, from the occupiers’ side. The Russians were leading the people and then opened fire on them themselves.
This is not the first time
The corps reports that this is the second such incident in two weeks.
On 27 September, the Russians led nine civilians, including children and elderly people, out through the same pipe.
At the time, men in civilian clothing – presumably Russian soldiers – were walking alongside them, leaving the city under the cover of civilians.
The Russians were using this gas pipeline to make their way to Kupiansk with the aim of subsequently bringing assault troops into the city.
The ‘Khartiia’ unit describes this incident as a deliberate provocation.
"In the near future, Russian media may show footage from the site of the shelling and blame Ukraine for it. A similar scenario – shelling civilians, filming the aftermath and presenting it in Russian media as an ‘Ukrainian attack on refugees’ – was already being circulated by the Russians on their social media pages in early October. Both cases have been documented. The evidence will be handed over for an investigation into war crimes," they added.
