Former Kyiv Metro chief Viktor Braginsky has been placed on the wanted list

The NABU has issued an arrest warrant for Viktor Brahinskyi, who previously headed the municipal enterprise ‘Kyiv Metro’.

This has been reported by Censor.NET, citing the press office of the NABU.

"The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is seeking Viktor Volodymyrovych Brahinskyi, born on 22 March 1983, who is a suspect in criminal proceedings No. 42023102060000235 of 10 October 2023 for committing a criminal offence under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the statement reads.

What led up to it?

Journalists had previously uncovered that the ‘Kyiv Metro’, under Brahinskyi's leadership, awarded contracts worth hundreds of millions of hryvnias to companies registered in the names of people from the director’s inner circle.

At the same time, Brahinskyi's ex-wife became the owner of assets worth one million dollars, including the construction of a country house in Kozyn. Officially, Braginsky is divorced; however, a member of staff at the metro itself confirmed to journalists that the head of the metro still lives with his so-called ex-wife.

Immediately after the report was published, the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitalii Klitschko, stated that Brahinskyi should be suspended from his duties as director of the capital’s metro, and that the facts revealed in the investigation should be dealt with by the relevant law enforcement agencies. The very next day, Braginsky himself submitted his resignation.

In December 2024, Brahinskyi was placed on the wanted list. Furthermore, on 12 November, he was informed that he was under suspicion of dereliction of duty in connection with the flooding of the tunnel between ‘Lybidska’ and ‘Demiivska’ stations.
