IAEA will send missions to 19 substations in Ukraine, - Sybiha

The IAEA will send missions to inspect electrical substations that are vital to Ukraine’s nuclear power stations

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will send missions to 19 electrical substations that are vital to the safe operation of Ukraine’s nuclear power stations. This was announced by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha following talks in Warsaw.

This is stated in a post by Andrii Sybiha on the social media platform X, as reported by Censor.NET.

The IAEA will inspect 19 substations of importance to nuclear power stations

During the talks, the parties discussed the situation at and around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station. They also discussed the threats posed by Russian militarisation and the need to ensure nuclear and physical nuclear safety.

Sybiha thanked the Director General of the IAEA for the decision to send missions to 19 electrical substations on which the safe operation of Ukraine’s nuclear power stations depends.

"I am grateful to the Director General for his decision to send IAEA missions to 19 electrical substations that are critical to the safe operation of Ukraine’s nuclear power stations," the minister emphasised.

According to Sybiha, this will be the largest deployment of missions of this kind to date. He noted that this move is timely in light of the Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Sybiha expressed his gratitude for the support given to the children of nuclear industry workers

During the talks, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister also expressed his gratitude for the health programme for the children of Ukrainian nuclear industry workers.

The parties have agreed to continue with such humanitarian initiatives.
