Burning "Novator" armoured vehicle travelled 20 kilometres after being struck by Russian FPV drone and saved its crew. VIDEO
A Ukrainian "Novator" armoured vehicle caught fire after being struck by a Russian FPV drone, but continued on its way and travelled around 20 kilometres, transporting the crew of a National Police rifle battalion to safety. All the police officers survived.
According to Censor.NET, a video has been published online showing the armoured vehicle’s final combat mission, during which it was used to carry out logistical tasks in eastern Ukraine.
The footage, captured by a reconnaissance drone, shows the armoured vehicle travelling along a road amidst buildings and trees. After the attack, the vehicle continues to move, despite sustaining damage and being filled with smoke.
At the end of the video, a burnt-out armoured vehicle is shown with serious damage to its bodywork and protective structures.
According to military sources, during four months of service, this ‘Novator’ carried out around 100 combat sorties and withstood strikes from ten Russian FPV drones.
The vehicle was used to deliver fuel, batteries and other essential supplies to the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
The unit has been operating ‘Novator’ armoured vehicles since 2024. Police officers note their suitability for carrying out precise logistical tasks. In addition, the crew independently upgraded the fire-suppression system in the vehicle’s cargo compartment.
The latest attack proved fatal for the armoured vehicle. However, even after catching fire, the ‘Novator’ managed to travel around 20 kilometres and evacuate all crew members.
The damaged vehicle was subsequently lost for good, but it had fulfilled its main mission: saving the lives of Ukrainian defenders.
