Russia has seen attempts to pressure Ukraine and is escalating situation, - Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy called on the U.S. to stand with Ukraine

Amid intensifying Russian attacks on Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on everyone in the U.S. not to side with the aggressor.

He made this statement on Telegram, according to Censor.NET.

Zelenskyy noted that a massive attack by "shaheds" continued throughout most of yesterday and into tonight, with constant waves of attacks.

"From the start of yesterday until 9 a.m. today, there were already more than 850 ‘Shaheds,’ and this occurred precisely during a period when our defensive capabilities were artificially limited. We managed to shoot down some of the ‘Shaheds.’ But, unfortunately, there were also dozens of hits.

One of the largest attacks took place against our Kirovohrad region; there were also strikes in Kyiv and the surrounding region, as well as in the Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Rivne, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Poltava, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Three people were killed in Kropyvnytskyi, and three in the Dnipropetrovsk region. "My condolences go out to their families and loved ones," the head of state emphasized.

Russia is escalating

According to the president, Russia deliberately chose to escalate the conflict after seeing sanctions eased and observing attempts to pressure Ukraine.

"Russia is taking advantage of every such moment and must be held accountable for its actions. Strong decisions are needed to end this war. Ukraine needs steadfast support, especially in defending its airspace.

We need HONESTY from our partners regarding the war: it is important that everyone in America stands not on the side of the aggressor, but on the side of our efforts to protect lives, end this war, and ensure security," he concluded.
