Zelenskyy and Kristersson discuss strengthening air defences, pressure on Russia and Ukraine’s EU membership. VIDEO

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

Zelenskyy reported this on Telegram, according to Censor.NET.

"I appreciate the stance taken by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson: it is important to step up pressure on Russia and increase support for Ukraine, not the other way round. This is precisely what Europe’s joint response to Russia’s escalation should be," the president said.

Strengthening air defence

The two sides discussed in detail Ukraine's needs for protection against constant attacks, particularly strengthening its air defences.

"I thank Sweden for our agreements regarding the Gripen fighter jets. We expect their delivery soon. They will complement our F-16s, including in shooting down jet-powered Shaheds," Zelenskyy said.

Other issues

Particular attention was paid to Ukraine's path towards European Union membership and support for its energy sector in preparation for winter.

"I am grateful to the people of Sweden, the government and Ulf personally for supporting Ukraine and for our joint work to ensure Europe's security," the president added.
