Many American components found in Russian ballistic and cruise missiles – Vlasiuk. PHOTO
Russia’s defence industry continues to use a substantial number of American microchips in the production of ballistic and cruise missiles. An attempt to replace them with Russian-made components proved unsuccessful.
Ukraine’s Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy Vladyslav Vlasiuk said this, Censor.NET reports, citing Interfax-Ukraine.
"A great many American components. Primarily in ballistic missiles. Also in cruise missiles," Vlasiuk said.
According to him, Russian arms manufacturers attempted to replace American microchips with Russian-made equivalents in 2025. However, in 2026 they returned to using components from the United States.
Vlasiuk explained that American microelectronics play an important role in the accuracy and technical performance of Russian missiles.
Components from other foreign manufacturers, including German companies, are also being found in Russian weapons.
The presidential commissioner stressed the need for full alignment of sanctions against Russian arms manufacturers. He also called on law enforcement agencies to investigate the supply routes for foreign microelectronics to Russia more actively and shut them down.
