Cabinet of Ministers defers shelter requirements for businesses but does not cancel them – Koretskyi

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to give entrepreneurs additional time to set up shelters and safe spaces. Requirements to protect employees and visitors remain mandatory.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi reported this on Telegram, according to Censor.NET.
According to the head of government, amendments to the existing procedure were presented to business associations on 29 October. The decision to grant an extension was made because a significant proportion of businesses have not yet begun implementing basic safety requirements.
"People’s safety remains the priority. At the same time, we are extending the resolution’s validity because we cannot allow the economy and the country’s day-to-day functioning to come to a halt," Koretskyi stressed.
The prime minister explained that entrepreneurs do not necessarily have to build a fully fledged shelter on their own premises. Depending on the circumstances, they can set up a basic safe space, install a mobile shelter, or ensure access to the nearest underground shelter.
"A shelter does not necessarily have to be on the business’s own premises. A nearby shelter can be used if it has sufficient capacity. However, people must know exactly where it is located," the head of government said.
Requirements for protective structures will depend on the number of employees and visitors present at the premises at the same time.
The Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Internal Affairs are to publish details of the new procedure.
Koretskyi also said that military administrations would collect information on businesses’ compliance with safety requirements by 4 March. The government will make further decisions based on these data.
However, the prime minister has not yet announced a specific new deadline for setting up shelters.
