The fight for life

A year ago, Irina Pylypets, upon learning that her husband Oleksandr had been seriously wounded, quickly gathered her things and travelled from Chernihiv to the hospital. Every day was a fight for life. Her husband had lost both arms and his eyes; his face was missing bones and tissue. Together with Oleksandr’s sister, Irina never left her husband’s side. And he came out of his coma. What followed were operations, rehabilitation, and a little more independence each day. Oleksandr could hear his eldest son hesitating at the door to the ward; it was so hard for him to come in and see his dad with such severe injuries. Oleksandr felt his son’s pain. But faith, love and the support of his family work wonders.
