Democrats preparing investigation into Musk over Starshield operations in Ukraine – CNN

The U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations has begun preparations for extensive congressional investigations. It has sent official requests to private companies and administration officials to preserve documents that could serve as evidence during the investigations.
According to Censor.NET, CNN reports on this.
According to a Democratic aide in the Senate, letters were sent to Elon Musk, among others. The reason was a series of incidents in which the Starshield satellite system experienced slowdowns while operating in Ukraine.
In addition, requests were sent to banks, ports, and private entities involved in deals to supply Russian diesel fuel.
Democrats plan to tighten oversight of the Trump administration
The Senate committee emphasizes that requests to preserve documents are standard procedure. They are sent to safeguard the evidence regarding individuals suspected of violating the law or of involvement in questionable activities.
Now that the Democratic Party has taken control of Congress in January, the opposition plans to step up oversight of the administration of President Donald Trump and review its decisions over the past two years. Senator Chris Coons is expected to become the committee chair.
At the same time, no significant changes to the U.S. National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) are expected during the so-called "lame duck" session, since the main text of the bill has already been agreed upon by both houses of Congress.
The current Republican majority is unlikely to support restrictions on presidential powers during this period. However, once the new Congress takes office, the White House may face difficulties in confirming appointments and ambassadors.
