Germany can no longer supply Patriot systems to Ukraine, - Pistorius

The Netherlands will not be able to transfer the Patriot system to Ukraine

Germany has exhausted its options for further transfers of Patriot air defence systems to Ukraine.

According to Censor.NET, citing the German publication Focus, this was stated by German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius.

Germany has already supplied Ukraine with several Patriot systems and a certain number of missiles for them.

The transfer of new systems would create gaps in Germany’s defences

According to Pistorius, Berlin is currently unable to replenish its own stocks following the transfer of existing systems to Ukraine.

"We are currently unable to replenish anything we are providing; this would lead to gaps in our defence, for which we cannot take responsibility. We cannot do any more at present," the minister said.

He emphasised that other states must now take on the bulk of the responsibility for supplying Ukraine with Patriot systems.

The issue will be discussed at a ‘Ramstein’ format meeting

Pistorius added that this issue is due to be discussed in mid-November during a meeting of the Contact Group on Defence Issues for Ukraine in the ‘Ramstein’ format.
