Sandu warned of new Russian attempts to destabilize Moldova

Russia will make new attempts to destabilize the situation in Moldova in the near future.

Moldova's President Maia Sandu made this statement following a meeting of the National Security Council, according to Censor.NET, which cites deschide.md.

Russia Opposes Moldova's Accession to the EU

According to Sandu, no other country in the world, apart from Russia, has expressed such dissatisfaction with Moldova's aspirations to join the European Union.

"Russia does not want the Republic of Moldova to develop. We have seen politicians from the Republic of Moldova aligning themselves with this approach by the Russian Federation," the president said.

New attempts at destabilization

She added that the Moldovan authorities must be prepared to respond promptly to prevent Moscow's attempts to destabilize the situation.

"In the coming months—and beyond—we will see new attempts by the Russian Federation to destabilize the situation and create the impression of instability in the Republic of Moldova, in order to create obstacles and complicate our path to EU accession. We must be prepared and respond in order to preserve stability and peace at home," Sandu emphasized.
