Czech Republic allowed to transfer remains of Ukrainian writer Oleksandr Oles, - Poroshenko

Czech Republic allowed the transfer of remains of Oleksandr Oles to Ukraine.

Censor.NET reports citing the Twitter of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

"The Czech authorities have given the permission to transfer the exhumed remains of Oleksandr Oles to Ukraine. We are preparing the transportation in the nearest future," Poroshenko wrote.

On Tuesday, Jan. 3, the remains of Ukrainian poet Oleksandr Oles and his wife were exhumed in Prague. Under the Czech laws, after a burial, the relatives or friends of a deceased person have to pay a rent for a place in the cemetery in the amount of 20,000 krones ($773,05) for a 10-year period.

Until recently, the rent for the grave of Oles had been paid by native of Ukraine Volodymyr Mykhailyshyn of his own volition. However, Mykhailyshyn has died recently, and his son wants to bury him in the grave of Oles.

The remains of Oleksandr Oles and his wife have been moved to the cemetery depository for the time being until his Canada-based relatives make a decision on the final resting place.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine to ensure the transportation of the remains of Oles and organize a proper reburial ceremony.
