According to media reports, the bridge's condition was assessed by experts as being of limited serviceability. In 2019, a temporary traffic restriction was imposed, banning vehicles weighing more than 7 tonnes. Carriers are forced to detour around the emergency bridge via local roads, making a 32 km detour.

The bridge is an integral part of the region's transport corridor, which has access to the border with 4 EU countries. It provides access for residents of Rakhiv and Tyachiv districts, to the regional centre of Zakarpattia and Mukachevo.
