The Embassy of Belarus was attacked in the Netherlands on the night of 2 July. Law enforcement officers detained a 31-year-old suspect.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by Omroep West.

It is noted that three windows were smashed in a building on Groot Hertoginnelaan in The Hague, and red and white inscriptions were written: "Luka is a terrorist". Some of the inscriptions were left in Russian: "Belarus lives".

Law enforcement officers have set up a cordon and are investigating. Traces were removed from the premises. A 31-year-old man was detained on suspicion of attacking the embassy.

D66 MP Sjörd Sjödsma condemned the attack on the embassy.

"No matter how rightly you are angry with the regime of Belarus, Russia or other countries, do not attack their embassies or residences," the politician wrote on Twitter.

According to him, this worsens the situation for Dutch diplomats abroad.

"You're not helping anyone and you're making our diplomats in these countries more vulnerable," Sjödsma concluded.

As a reminder, Alexander Lukashenko, who seized power in Belarus, is a staunch ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He recently instructed senior officials to develop an "algorithm for the use" of nuclear weapons deployed by Russia.

Last week, Lukashenko was a mediator during the Wagnerites' mutiny in Russia. At the same time, the US authorities do not yet have sufficient information about the whereabouts of Wagner group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin and his mercenaries who took part in the rebellion in Russia last weekend.
