Approximately 900 Ukrainian marines were trained in the UK, where they practiced guided operations in small boats, including raids on shore.

According to Censor.NET, citing European Pravda, this was reported by the British Ministry of Defence.

As noted, the marines were trained by the Royal Marines and British commandos, and the program, with the support of other partners, lasted six months in the UK.

These are the same exercises that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced during President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the UK.

Among other things, the commandos taught their Ukrainian counterparts how to conduct guided operations in small boats, including raids on shore. This is the first such training conducted by the UK for the Ukrainian military.

"This training programme from the elite British commandos will help Ukraine develop its marines and enhance their ability to perform maritime operations," said Defence Secretary Ben Wallace.

Each group underwent a five-week training programme that included physical training, tactics, tactical medicine, and operation planning. The training also included the use of a variety of infantry weapons - NLAW, Stinger, mortars, drones for reconnaissance, and the destruction of enemy fortifications using explosives.

The exercise concluded with a task involving the planning and execution of raids in day and night conditions.

Among the people who took part in the training were many former civilians with no military experience, as well as fighters who already had combat experience but served in other branches of the military.

In addition to the British, the instructors were also marines from the Netherlands.

In total, since the beginning of 2022, more than 20,000 Ukrainians have been trained in the UK as part of the training program with the support of many allies.

In early 2023, the UK promised to continue the program and train another 20,000 soldiers.
