A writer from Kherson, a volunteer and member of Plast, Oleksandr Menshov, was killed in Donetsk region.

This was reported by Kherson City Council deputy Oksana Pogomiy, Censor.NET reports.

Oleksandr Menshov was born in 1977 in Kherson. He studied at KhSTU from 1994 to 1999 at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Business Economics.

Before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Oleksandr Menshov wrote detective stories, novels about alternative history, and was a member of Plast.

He spent six months in the occupation of Kherson. Eventually, he was able to move to Vinnytsia, from where he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, although he had no experience of military service.

"This is Kherson before the occupation. A room full of people interested in learning more about the Stus case. After the meeting, there were many hugs, short conversations and a book by a local author as a gift. A photo as a souvenir... We wrote off several times - Sashko saved the numbers of collaborator's newspapers published by the Russians in the city for the Press Archive Museum. And now Plast Kherson has just reported that Oleksandr Menshov, a junior sergeant in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the father of Plast member Polina, died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. Eternal memory to our comrade. Each time - a knife in the heart. How many people we are losing," journalist Vakhtang Kipiani wrote on Facebook and shared a photo of the family.

Oleksandr has a wife and two children.
