Cyberpolice stopped the activities of fraudsters who organised a call centre in the Donetsk region and cheated citizens out of their financial data.
This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.
"The fraudsters called citizens posing as bank security officers and reported allegedly suspicious financial transactions with their cards. During the conversation, the offenders persuaded people to follow their instructions and directions, as a result of which they gained full access to the victims' online banking. Later, the criminals transferred funds from the victims' accounts to drop cards and cashed them out," the statement said.
Law enforcement officers established that the offenders defrauded 24 people of about UAH 3 million.
The defendants face up to 12 years in prison.
