On 12 January, in Zakarpattia, border guards of the Dilove department together with rescuers from the Rakhiv Mountain Search and Rescue Department rescued three men who had been wandering in the Carpathians for a week in an attempt to cross the border with Romania.
This was reported by the State Border Guard Service, Censor.NET reports.
As noted, the search was carried out using a quadcopter, which helped to identify the frozen and disoriented offenders. All three showed signs of severe hypothermia, and one of them was hospitalised with superficial frostbite of the foot and a body temperature of 33.8°C.
The men - two from Kyiv and one from Donetsk region - set off for the mountains on 5 January to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Romanian border. Despite their preparations, they were forced to seek help due to severe weather conditions.
Administrative reports were drawn up against the offenders under Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offences for illegal crossing or attempting to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine, and their actions will soon be assessed by the court.
