In Lviv, unknown persons poured paint on a sign with the name of a street named after Iryna Farion. The police are identifying the persons involved in the offence.
This was reported on Facebook by the police of the Lviv region, Censor.NET reports.
"Today, on 9 February, while monitoring social media, law enforcement officers found a publication with a photo of a painted over sign with the name of the street named after Irina Farion," the statement said.
This fact is currently being investigated. The police are identifying the persons involved in the offence. The issue of legal classification of the incident is also being resolved.
A photo of the damaged sign was posted on Facebook by Yevhen Boiko, the head of the executive committee of the Lviv City Council.
He said that the vandalism was committed on 9 February, around 6:15 am.
"Two vandals were caught on the city's CCTV cameras at 6.15am today. Initially, the networks reported that the sign was thrown with mud, but it turned out to be paint. The video was passed to law enforcement. The sign was replaced," Boyko wrote.
In early January, a street in Lviv was officially inaugurated in honor of the slain linguist, politician, and public figure Iryna Farion.
