French Defence Minister Sébastien Le Coronneu announced the provocative actions of a Russian SU-35 fighter jet against a French Reaper drone over the Mediterranean Sea. The drone was conducting reconnaissance in international airspace.
He wrote about this on the X platform, Censor.NET reports.
"On Sunday, a Russian SU-35 fighter jet dangerously engaged a French Reaper drone that was conducting a reconnaissance mission in international airspace over the eastern Mediterranean," the statement said.
Lecorneu noted that three consecutive close passes could have led to the loss of control over the drone, demonstrating a desire to restrict free air traffic in the common airspace.
"These are deliberate, unprofessional and aggressive actions that are unacceptable. France will continue to take measures to defend freedom of navigation in international air and sea spaces," the French minister said.
The Russian side has not yet commented on the incident.
