The Kyiv Police together with the Prosecutor's Office uncovered a scheme of embezzlement of budget funds organised by employees of Kyivzelenbud.
This was reported by the press service of the National Police, Censor.NET reports.
Three employees of the organisation and directors of the construction companies under its control became defendants in a case involving embezzlement of funds from the city budget.
As noted, the scheme was organized by the deputy head of the Kyivzelenbud department, with the involvement of two other employees responsible for verifying cost estimate documentation. Their role was to overlook discrepancies in the acceptance certificates of completed work.
Three controlled companies were awarded tenders for the overhaul of parks and squares in the Dniprovskyi, Darnytskyi and Obolonskyi districts of Kyiv. Upon completion of the work, the organiser signed inflated reporting documents, which allowed the contractors to overpay the city budget by over UAH 5.3 million.
The funds received on the accounts of the companies were transferred to other controlled companies for further distribution among the members of the criminal group.
The investigators established 9 episodes of embezzlement of budget funds. The participants of the criminal scheme were served a notice of suspicion under Part 4 - 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and a ban on holding certain positions.
It is worth noting that the contractor that participated in the tenders has been repeatedly mentioned in journalistic investigations as a company that easily wins large tenders for repair work in the capital.
