In the Dnipropetrovsk region, police uncovered a group of servicemen who facilitated desertion from the Armed Forces.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press service of the police of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
In return for a monetary reward, the defendants assisted in the unimpeded departure from the military camp, passing through checkpoints, and provided further instructions on how to hide from law enforcement agencies. The cost of such services was 1-2 thousand dollars. Other soldiers were offered to avoid participation in hostilities and transfer to rear units for $4,000.
On 26 February, law enforcement officers conducted 13 searches at the suspects' residences, seizing mobile phones, cars, draft records and documents, as well as weapons and drugs.
Law enforcement officers established that the scheme was organised by a 38-year-old man who involved his subordinates and other accomplices in the plan. Investigators documented four facts of desertion involving the criminals.
The 11 defendants were served notices of suspicion under articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Article 408(4) (desertion)
- Part 1 of Article 114-1 (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The organiser of the scheme was also served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an offer and receipt of an unlawful benefit).
