In the Kherson region, two officials of a military unit organised a corruption scheme - they extorted money from servicemen for charging them fictitious "combat" payments.
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation, Censor.NET reports.
It is reported that during 2024, the offenders illegally received almost one and a half million hryvnias.
It was established that the commander of a supply platoon and the head of a motor transport unit were involved in organising the criminal business. They conspired and offered servicemen to receive increased payments for allegedly performing combat missions in the combat zone, although they were not actually there.
The officials demanded up to 30,000 hryvnias per month for such "services". The money was received in non-cash form via bank card transfers. A total of 12 people were involved in the scheme.
The defendants in the case were detained and served a notice of suspicion of receiving an unlawful benefit (Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The article provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The issue of choosing a type of detention is currently being decided.
