Under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the deputy head and inspector of one of the customs posts of the Kyiv Customs Office were exposed.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press centre of the Prosecutor General's Office.
What is known about the scheme?
According to the investigation, the officials set up a scheme to obtain illegal benefits from entrepreneurs who imported used cars from the United States.
"The deputy head artificially created obstacles during customs clearance, after which the inspector, through intermediaries, offered to 'resolve the issue' — expedited and unhindered customs clearance for money," prosecutors explained.
How were the corrupt officials detained?
While receiving $2,400, both were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. They were notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The issue of preventive measures and their removal from office is currently being decided.
