Kyiv police have announced that they suspect the CEO of a private company of embezzling more than 47 million hryvnias from the capital's budget during the supply of electricity.

At the end of 2022, a private company and the municipal enterprise Kyivpastrans signed a contract for the supply of electricity worth over 838 million hryvnias. Under the terms of the agreement, the supplier was required to ensure price transparency and inform the consumer of any market tariff changes.

According to the report, electricity was supplied to the municipal enterprise throughout 2023, during which tariffs fluctuated constantly, a fact known to the contractor.

However, the official documentation concealed information about the actual rates, and for nearly the entire year, Kyivpastrans consumed electricity at inflated prices, the Kyiv police said.
