The Security Service's counterintelligence prevented a new terrorist attack in Chernihiv.

As a result of pre-emptive measures, an FSB agent was exposed in the city who was preparing to blow up a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a homemade bomb, reports Censor.NET.

Details of the investigation

The investigation established that the suspect was supposed to make explosives and plant them near an apartment building where the soldier was to arrive.

To lure the Ukrainian defender to the site of the planned terrorist attack, the FSB created a fake account of a girl on a dating site, who then invited him "on a date".

SSU officers uncovered the enemy's plan in advance, neutralised the explosives and thus saved the Ukrainian soldier.

According to the case file, the terrorist attack was planned by a 35-year-old local deserter who came to the attention of the FSB while looking for "easy money" on Telegram channels.

After being recruited, the agent was instructed by his handler to make a homemade explosive device (HED) and equip it with a mobile phone for remote activation.

The suspect also placed a hidden mini-camera with remote access for the FSB at the site of the planned terrorist attack. In this way, the Russians hoped to track the soldier's arrival at the "location" and blow him up.

During searches, components for making an IED hidden in the suspect's backpack and a smartphone he used to contact the Russian special services officer were seized.

As part of the criminal proceedings initiated by SSU investigators, an investigation is underway to bring all persons involved in the crime to justice.
