Two Russian military intelligence agents who were preparing attacks on thermal and hydroelectric power plants in the Kyiv region have been detained.
This was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine, according to Censor.NET.
Details
The suspects separately surveyed the area, recorded the coordinates of energy facilities and assessed their technical condition after shelling.
Who was detained?
The enemy's tasks were carried out by unemployed people from Odesa and Khmelnytskyi regions.
The 19- and 21-year-old young men were looking for easy money on Telegram channels in the autumn, where they caught the attention of the Russian GRU.
After recruitment, enemy intelligence "sent" agents to Kyiv and the surrounding areas to coordinate Russian strikes.
The young men also photographed and marked the geolocation of checkpoints on local roads on Google Maps.
The agents were caught red-handed in the capital while conducting reconnaissance at the addresses of potential "targets."
During searches, smartphones with anonymous chats in messengers were seized from the suspects, which they used to contact their GRU handler.
Both have been notified of suspicion of treason and taken into custody. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
