Taking advantage of this opportunity, the suspect resorted to illegal actions. He sought out men who were wanted for violating military registration rules and promised to help them solve this problem.

The perpetrator guaranteed that for 9,000 hryvnias, he would arrange with his colleagues to remove them from the wanted list. And for 6,000 dollars, he would also find them employment at a critical infrastructure enterprise to obtain a deferment from military service. If a man tried to refuse, he would be mobilised to a military unit and immediately sent to the combat zone.

He instructed the man to bring copies of documents, photographs, and part of the agreed amount to the first meeting. He also noted that without the money, the meeting would not take place.

The police documented the illegal actions of TCR military officer and detained him while he was receiving part of the funds for starting the "employment" process – $3,000.

Police investigators have already informed the defendant that he is suspected of receiving unlawful benefits for himself for influencing the decision-making of a person authorised to perform state functions, combined with extortion of such benefits. He faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
