The Chernihiv region police detained a criminal authority who threatened to kill the father of a deceased soldier-defender.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the National Police of Ukraine.

Details of the incident

On 12 February, a 70-year-old resident of Nizhyn contacted the police and reported that he had been attacked by an unknown person in a grocery store.
The attacker struck the pensioner on the head, and when the victim said that he had recently buried his son who had died at the front, the attacker used foul language towards him and, holding a knife in his hands, began to threaten him with violence.

The attacker is a criminal authority

Police officers from the Nizhyn District Police Department responded immediately and identified the attacker as a 41-year-old local criminal authority.

The police, with the support of a rapid response team, detained the attacker in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
An authorised search was conducted at his residence, during which the weapon used in the crime was seized.
