Stole car at training ground and fired at police officers: deserter detained in Rivne region, - National Police. PHOTOS
The 49-year-old suspect left the military unit without permission, stole a car from the training ground and went into hiding from the investigation. During a search, police seized prohibited items and substances.

What is known?
On 30 January, a soldier contacted the police and reported that an unknown person had taken possession of his Fiat Doblo car, which was parked on the training ground.
Criminal proceedings were opened under Part 1 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and a search for the vehicle and the perpetrator was launched. On the same day, police officers found the stolen car near the village of Klevan in the Rivne district.
The person involved in the crime was recently identified as a 49-year-old resident of the same village who had been mobilised in January this year.
The perpetrator fired shots during his arrest
Today, 14 February, at around 06:40, an investigative team, backed by a special police unit, arrived at his home. However, the man immediately began shooting at the police from a window of the house.
Special forces surrounded the house and entered into negotiations with the man. After a series of shots, the perpetrator came out of the house with his hands up and was detained. No one was injured.
Weapons found
During the search, the police found and seized a pistol, an automatic weapon, three air rifles, a bayonet knife, 29 blank cartridges, 7 cartridge cases, a smoking pipe and foil with traces of psychotropic substances.
The man was notified of the charges against him and detained in accordance with procedural rules: he is currently being held in a temporary detention facility. The military prosecutor's office is overseeing the proceedings.
