Shelling of Sumy region: one woman killed, 19 people injured, civilian and critical infrastructure hit. PHOTOS
During the day on 17 February 2026, enemy troops carried out 38 attacks on 27 settlements in the Sumy region.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the communications department of the Sumy region police.
What did the enemy use?
Strikes with various types of weapons were recorded. Communities in the Sumy, Shostka, Okhtyrka, and Konotop districts were targeted. Police investigative teams, bomb disposal experts, and rescue services worked at the sites of the strikes.
There are casualties
- In the Okhtyrka district, the enemy struck two private houses. As a result of the attack, a 68-year-old woman was killed and six other people were injured, including two children aged 7 and 15.
- In the Sumy city community, critical infrastructure, administrative buildings of state bodies, educational, cultural and sports facilities, apartment buildings, office premises and transport were damaged. Eight people were injured.
- In the Bilopillia community, two people were injured as a result of shelling, and damage to telecommunications infrastructure, heating networks and private transport was also reported.
- Transport infrastructure facilities were damaged in the Konotop community.
- In the Lebedyn community, a manufacturing enterprise was damaged. Two residents were injured.
- In the Shostka district, one civilian was injured, and administrative buildings, a hangar, a water tower and several cars were damaged.
