On the night of 26 March, a Russian drone, shot down by Ukrainian air defences during an attack on Ukraine’s border regions, entered Romanian airspace and crashed near the town of Parcheș.
According to Censor.NET, citing European Truth, this is stated in a statement by the Romanian Ministry of Defence.
According to the Romanian defence ministry, Russian forces used drones to attack civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania.
Two F-16 fighter jets were scrambled to monitor the air situation.
"At 00:44, a drone, shot down by Ukrainian air defence, entered national airspace for a distance of approximately 4 kilometres. The drone crashed 2 km from the town of Parces, outside the built-up area," the Romanian Ministry of Defence stated.
An IGSU fire engine and teams from the Ministry of National Defence were dispatched to the scene, where they found an area of burnt vegetation and the wreckage of the drone.
No reports of material damage or casualties have been received.
As a reminder, on the evening of 17 March, the Romanian Ministry of National Defence’s surveillance systems detected signals from an unmanned aerial vehicle nearnational airspace in the north of Tulcea County.
