Ukrainian border with Belarus in Polissia has been transformed into fortified defensive line, – Operational Command "West". PHOTOS
In the Ukrainian Polissia region, on the border with Belarus, fortifications have been erected, and minefields, trenches, and barriers have been set up. Troops are on constant alert.
This was reported by the Western Operational Command, according to Censor.NET.
An impregnable fortress
"The Ukrainian Polissia today is not just a protected region, but an impregnable fortress. Despite the deceptive silence from the Belarusian side, the Ukrainian Defence Forces remain vigilant, as the neighbouring state remains a Kremlin satellite and a potential springboard for the enemy," the statement reads.
The Western Operational Command emphasised that the Ukrainian border has now been transformed into a fortified defensive line: kilometres of field fortifications, hundreds of caponiers for equipment and firing points have been erected. A powerful system of minefields, trenches, and barriers is complemented by complex natural terrain – impassable forests, swamps, and rivers act as natural obstacles for the aggressor.
Soldiers on constant alert
It is also noted that border guards serving as part of the ‘West’ military group are securely holding their designated section of the state border with Belarus.
"The soldiers are on constant alert, ready to respond immediately to any hostile actions or provocations," the command assured.
Background
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously ordered the reinforcement of the Chernihiv-Kyiv sector due to the threat from Belarus.
