234 combat engagements on front line over past 24 hours: highest number of enemy attacks were in Pokrovsk and Huliaypilla sectors, – General Staff. MAP

In total, over the past 24 hours, on 16 May 2026, 234 combat engagements were recorded on the front line.

This was reported by Censor.NET, citing the General Staff’s press centre.

Shelling

Yesterday, the enemy carried out 95 air strikes and dropped 300 guided bombs. In addition, it deployed 9,645 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,305 shelling attacks on settlements and our troops’ positions, including 74 using multiple launch rocket systems.

The aggressor carried out air strikes, notably in the areas around the settlements of Vilna Sloboda and Bachivsk in the Sumy region.

Strikes against the enemy

Over the past 24 hours, the Defence Forces’ air force, missile forces and artillery struck two command posts, five areas where personnel were concentrated, seven artillery systems, three drone control centres and one other important enemy target.

The General Staff notes that the total losses of the Russian invaders over the past 24 hours amounted to 1,170 personnel. The enemy also lost one tank, four armoured fighting vehicles, 82 artillery systems, two multiple launch rocket systems, three air defence systems, 13 ground-based robotic systems, 2,131 unmanned aerial vehicles, two missiles, 325 vehicles and five pieces of specialist equipment.

Situation in the North

As noted, 17 combat engagements took place in the Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk sectors over the past 24 hours; the enemy carried out five air strikes, used 11 guided bombs, and fired 105 times at the positions of our troops and populated areas, including 15 times using multiple launch rocket systems.

Situation in the Kharkiv region

In the Southern Slobozhanskyi sector, the enemy launched seven assaults on our units’ positions in the areas around the settlements of Vovchansk, Radkivka, Hraniv, Izbytske and Starytsia.

In the Kupiansk direction, our defenders repelled three enemy attacks in the areas around the settlements of Novoosynove, Kurylivka and Podoly.

Situation in the East

According to the General Staff, in the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops repelled nine attempts by the invaders to advance in the areas around the settlements of Stepove, Novyi Mir, Stavy, Drobysheve, Yampil, Lyman and Ozerne.

In the Sloviansk sector, over the past 24 hours, our defenders repelled three attempts by the occupiers to advance in the areas around the settlements of Zakytne and Rai-Oleksandrivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, our defenders repelled one enemy attack near the settlement of Nykyforivka.

It is also noted that in the Kostiantynivka sector, the enemy carried out 12 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Ivanopil, Illinivka and Stepanivka.

"In the Pokrovsk direction, our defenders repelled 32 assaults by the aggressor in the areas of the settlements of Vilne, Kucheriiv Yar, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Nove Shakhove, Bilytske, Hryshyne, Vasylivka, Novomykolaivka, Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Boikivka, Toretske, Udachne, Serhiivka, and Molodetske," the statement reads.

Situation in the South

In the Oleksandrivka and Orikhiv sectors, the enemy did not carry out any offensive operations yesterday.

In the Huliaipole sector, the occupiers carried out 24 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Dobropillia, Verkhnia Tersa, Zlahoda, Hirke, Krynychne, Staroukrainka, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, and Charivne.
