Man caused fatal road accident and killed his own mother in Lviv region: he has been charged. PHOTO
In the town of Pustomyty, in the Lviv region, law enforcement officers have charged a 24-year-old man with causing a fatal road traffic accident and murdering his mother.
This was reported by the National Police, according to Censor.NET.
Caused a road traffic accident
The incident took place today, 24 June, at around 7.10 am on Hlynska Street in the town of Pustomyty, Lviv District.
It has been preliminarily established that a patrol police crew spotted an Audi Q5 without a front number plate. When the police switched on their flashing lights and turned round to stop the driver, he sped off towards the exit from Lviv, colliding with a police vehicle in the process. He subsequently lost control of the vehicle and collided head-on with a Volkswagen.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the Volkswagen, a resident of the Lviv region, died at the scene from his injuries.
Killed his mother
The police say that the driver of the Audi, a 24-year-old resident of Lviv, was detained by patrol officers. The man also stated that he had killed his mother. The woman’s death has been confirmed: she was found in her flat with stab wounds.
Suspicions against the man
The suspect has been detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and referred for a medical examination.
- Following these events, police investigators in Lviv Oblast have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 115 (Intentional murder) and Part 2 of Article 286 (Breach of road safety regulations) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigation is ongoing.
