The patrol police have detained a man who threatened passers-by with a grenade in Kryvyi Rih. It transpired that he had left his military unit without authorisation.

Yesterday, 24 June, at around 9 p.m., police received a report of an explosion on Serhii Kolachevskyi Street in Kryvyi Rih. At the specified address, officers found a man with an object lying next to him that resembled an RGD-5 combat grenade.
During questioning, the man behaved aggressively and attempted to grab the dangerous object. Patrol officers detained him using physical force and handcuffs, in accordance with Article 45 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On the National Police’, the police stated.
The man went on AWOL
During a cursory search, police officers discovered another object resembling an electric detonator on the man. The police called an investigative team and bomb disposal experts to the scene.
- It later transpired that the 47-year-old man had left his military unit without authorisation. He was handed over to investigators, and the dangerous object was seized for examination.
