The 21-year-old driver of a BMW, who caused a fatal road accident in the Podilskyi district of Kyiv, did not hold a driving licence.
This was reported by the press office of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, according to Censor.NET.
What is known?
On 30 June, at around 9 am, in the Podilskyi district of Kyiv, the driver of a BMW was travelling in the first lane along Ivan Vyhovskyi Street. Whilst changing lanes, he made a side-impact collision with a Mercedes-Benz and the rear of a Daewoo Lanos.
The man’s car then veered into the oncoming lane, where it collided with a Hyundai Sonata and a Kia Magentis.
As a result of the collision, the 51-year-old female driver of the Hyundai Sonata died at the scene.
A ‘Drager’ breathalyser test showed that the suspect was sober at the time of the accident.
The driver of the BMW suffered a closed head injury and a chest contusion. The female passenger in his car was also injured.
The driver refused to give a statement.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor’s office noted that the 21-year-old man does not hold a driving licence, for which he has already been brought to administrative liability twice.
The man has been notified that he is suspected of breaching the Highway Code, resulting in the death of a person (Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
A motion has been submitted to the court to remand the suspect in custody without the right to bail.
