In June 2026, Russian occupation forces captured 84 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory. At the same time, if the territories liberated by Ukraine's Defence Forces are taken into account, the overall balance for the enemy has remained negative for the second month in a row.
This was reported by the DeepState monitoring project, Censor.NET reports.
Summary of June
Analysts note that, for security reasons, it is currently impossible to provide details about the successes of Ukrainian troops, but the difference between lost and liberated territories turned out to be small.
According to DeepState, the number of assault actions by the Russian army increased again, this time by 4.4%. However, analysts note that an increase in quantity does not mean effectiveness.
"Very often, one katsap goes on an assault, and what motivates them to go on such a suicide mission remains an open question," DeepState writes.
Analysts also note that in the second half of June, the enemy had successes near Kostiantynivka, along the Ukrainian state border, and near Huliaipole, which allowed it to somewhat improve the situation compared with May.
A turning point is looming
At the same time, DeepState stresses that a turning point is currently looming at the front, and further developments on the battlefield will directly depend on the decisions and actions of the Ukrainian command.
"If in May we took two steps forward, then in June it was already one step forward and one step back," the monitoring project writes.
DeepState also adds that in July, information is expected to emerge about the successes of Ukraine's Defence Forces in one of the frontline directions.
