Two servicemen have been exposed in Zakarpattia for attempting to illegally smuggle a man liable for military service abroad.

What is known
A 54-year-old junior sergeant and his colleague, a senior soldier, decided to make money by illegally smuggling a man liable for military service abroad. They conspired with an unidentified individual and, on 4 September 2025, travelled to the Vinnytsia region in a military unit vehicle, where they picked up their "client" and drove him to Zakarpattia.
According to the report, the servicemen not only accompanied the man during the journey but also explained how to illegally cross the border and pass through checkpoints. In particular, they advised him to wear a military uniform to avoid attracting attention.
Smugglers exposed
However, they failed to carry out their plan. At around 8:00 p.m., the vehicle was stopped at the "Torun" checkpoint. Border guards found the servicemen and their passenger.
Under the procedural supervision of the Zakarpattia Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Sphere of Defense of the Western Region, both servicemen were notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and placed under preventive measures.
