The commemoration events took place at the Memory Wall in Kyiv downtown.

Today, Aug. 29, Ukrainian people is commemorating soldiers killed in the Ilovaisk entrapment in August 2014. Mourning events took place in Kyiv downtown. The guard of honor of the National Guards has laid flowers to the wall of memory dedicated to military and law enforcers who died in fighting for Ukraine. After that, the people commemorated the killed fighters with a moment of silence.
Inside the Mykhailivskyi (St.Michael) dome, personal belongings and photographs of the fighters who were killed in the Ilovaisk tragedy are exhibited. Leading to the church is a symbolic "corridor of death" similar to that where Ukrainian soldiers were shot dead in August 2014. The corridor is made of dead sunflowers, burning lamps, and photos of the guys who were killed in the tragedy.
Several hundred people came to participate in the commemoration events.

In late August 2014, Ukrainian forces were entrapped in Ilovaisk area, the Donetsk region. Russian armed forces and terrorist gangs opened fire upon the corridor that was created for the withdrawal of the Ukrainian troops.
